Korbin Kameron, Merlot, 2014
MOON MOUNTAIN DISTRICT, SONOMA COUNTY | CALIFORNIA
On a trip to Sonoma, Mitchell and Jenny Ming fell in love with a magical plot of land at the top of Mt. Veeder, right at the Napa/Sonoma county line. They decided to break ground and create their winery, Korbin Kameron, named after their twins Korbin and Kameron. With the help and expertise of two legends in the game; Phil Coturri became their vineyard manager and Timothy Miles became their winemaker. With 19 acres of organically-farmed, estate Bordeaux grapes from one of California’s greatest appellations it is no wonder these wines taste and feel like luxurious magic. If Merlot needed just a little more push to make it to the other side of the totally unfair, bad rap it received after the movie Sideways, crappy bulk-production in the 90’s and the fact that it is most of our grandma’s favorites - this is the wine. Silky, integrated, layered and delicious. With just the right amount of age on the bottle, this wine is beautifully balanced with delicate strength. Also, grandma was always right.
Notes of pomegranate, baking spice and ripe blackberries.
